Dengue is the most common serious illness travellers catch in Bali, and the first days look like a bad flu. Our doctor comes to your room with an NS1 rapid test and blood count, starts fluids, and monitors your platelets daily so you are never guessing whether it is "just a virus".
Dengue is managed, not cured — early testing and close monitoring is what keeps it safe.
Fever, when it started, headache, rash, bleeding gums, vomiting. We reply in minutes and tell you what to drink while we are on the way.
NS1 antigen rapid test (best days 1–5 of fever) plus full blood count for platelets and haematocrit. Result in about 1-2 hours.
IV rehydration if you are not drinking enough, paracetamol for fever (never ibuprofen or aspirin with dengue), anti-nausea if vomiting.
Repeat blood count each day through the critical phase (days 3–7). If platelets fall fast or warning signs appear, we arrange hospital admission immediately.
You cannot tell from symptoms alone — that is what the test is for. When in doubt, message us; the assessment on WhatsApp is free.
Rest, fluids, paracetamol. Message us if fever passes 38.5°C or lasts more than 2 days.
Classic dengue picture. Rapid test at your room today, blood count, fluids, and a monitoring plan.
These mark the critical phase (usually day 3–7). Message or call now — this needs same-day assessment and possibly hospital care.
Dengue has three phases. Most people worry in the febrile phase and relax in the critical phase — which is backwards. Here is how we track it.
Dengue is diagnosed and managed by the doctor after examining you and reviewing the blood results. Treatment plans are individual — the timeline above is a guide, not a promise.

You cannot be sure from symptoms. Sudden high fever with severe headache, pain behind the eyes, body aches and later a rash is typical, but only a blood test confirms it. We test at your room in about 15 minutes.
No. Treatment is supportive: fluids, fever control with paracetamol, rest, and close monitoring of platelets during the critical phase. Done well, most people recover fully in 1–2 weeks.
Usually days 3–7, often just as the fever drops. Warning signs are severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding, cold clammy skin or drowsiness. That is when hospital care may be needed — message us immediately.

Not during the critical phase. Once platelets are rising and you are drinking well, usually yes. We provide a fit-to-fly letter for the airline and insurer.
